Mac McAnally Takes The Win Six Consecutive Years

Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, singer, producer Mac McAnally took home his sixth consecutive CMA Award for "Musician of the Year" at tonight's CMA Award Show.

"I'm happy and honored and feeling guilty enough to go home and practice for a week," McAnally said after accepting the award.

The win-streak bests Chet Atkins' run of five-times consecutive and ties Mark O'Connor's reign at the top. Atkins holds the all-time record of nine total "Musician of the Year" wins.

Along with performing his own solo dates, Mac continues songwriting, producing and touring with Jimmy Buffett and is a highly sought after session player. He will next appear co-headlining with fellow Mississippi native Paul Thorn at the Bancorpsouth Arena in Tupelo, MS on December 20. The intimate, acoustic performance will be the first time the singer-songwriter-storytellers have shared a bill.

Singer, songwriter, musician and producer Mac McAnally has been inducted into the Songwriters' Hall of Fame (2007) and the Mississippi Music Hall of Fame (2008). He's written six No. 1 singles and is regarded as one of the foremost musicians of his time, having worked with Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown, Brad Paisley, George Strait and Jimmy Buffett and many more. Recently, Mac co-produced Jimmy Buffett's album Songs From St. Somewhere, which includes six of his co-writing credits. The collection debuted in the Top 5 of Billboard's album chart. He is currently in the middle of co-producing a Jesse Winchester record.

Mac has seen and done it all. Now he is back once again with his latest album - Mac McAnally - Live in Muscle Shoals. As his first ever live CD, it was recorded at the W. C. Handy Music Festival held in Florence, Alabama and is available through his website and iTunes.
