Mac McAnally Honored by CMA, ASCAP, NSAI
Artist, Writer & Musician Accolades Cap Career Year(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) As accomplished and acclaimed a music maker as Mac McAnally has been over his storied career, he's never seen anything quite like 2009. Last week, Mac was honored with ASCAP and Nashville Songwriters Association International awards for "Down The Road," the No. 1 Kenny Chesney smash Mac wrote. McAnally performed the song with Chesney, as well, leading to a recent CMA Awards nomination for the two artists in the Musical Event of the Year Category.
Mac is also nominated for the CMA's Musician of the Year, an honor he won in 2008. And he'll be on hand Nov. 11 as this year's CMA Awards are handed out during the ABC telecast from Nashville's Sommet Center. When he's not picking up trophies, McAnally is busy filling concert venues and pleasing fans, both with his own solo dates and as a member of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band. Upcoming Southeast solo dates and Buffett tour stops are listed below.
Named to the Songwriters' Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Mississippi Music Hall of Fame in 2008, McAnally has written six No. 1 singles in his career -- including "Down The Road," which topped the charts in the spring and was merely the opening act of an amazing year. Signed to Show Dog Nashville, Mac released Down By The River in August, immediately drawing the kind of accolades you'd expect for a musician, producer and artist who's been sought out by the likes of Roy Orbison, Hank Williams, Jr., Amy Grant, Jimmy Buffett, Travis Tritt, Linda Ronstadt, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Dolly Parton and many more.
