MAC McANALLY OPENS SUMMER SCHEDULE AT KENNEDY CENTER
MAC McANALLY OPENS SUMMER SCHEDULE AT KENNEDY CENTER
"You First" & "Down The Road" Singer Plays Solo And With Jimmy Buffett
(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) One of music's most respected creators visits one
of its most hallowed stages as artist/songwriter/musician/ producer
Mac McAnally plays the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC to honor
wounded soldiers June 8. The Launching Challenge America initiative,
which also features Amy Grant and Vince Gill, is prelude to a full
schedule of performances for McAnally stretching to year's end.
Mac's itinerary mixes solo performances focused on his new Show Dog/
Nashville music, including the well-received new single "You First,"
with huge arena shows in his role as a longtime member of Jimmy
Buffett's Coral Reefer band. Already, McAnally has more than 25 shows
on the books through November, with more to be added soon.
Following his first No. 1 as a recording artist and sixth as a
songwriter - "Down The Road" with Kenny Chesney - McAnally signed to
Toby Keith's Show Dog label and began work on another album of
original material. "You First," his first single for the label,
offers poignant examples of love in McAnally's direct yet profound
simplicity of style.
It is an approach born of experience and accomplishment. Starting as
a Muscle Shoals session musician while still essentially a child,
McAnally went on to become one of the most respected guitar players
in the world. He's played behind or sang harmony for artists
including Roy Orbison, Hank Williams, Jr., Amy Grant, Jimmy Buffett,
Travis Tritt, Linda Ronstadt, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Dolly Parton and
many more. As a producer, he's helmed successful projects by Sawyer
Brown, Chris LeDoux and Little Feat, among others.
Mac was named 2008 Musician of the Year by the Country Music
Association, the same year he was inducted into the Mississippi
Musicians Hall of Fame. He is also a 2007 inductee to the Nashville
Songwriters Hall of Fame. McAnally signed his first record deal at
the age of 16 and was the first artist signed to the legendary Geffen
Records.
